The Protected by Claire Zorn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Zorn writes beautifully, immediately drawing the reader into the agony of situation. Take aways:
1. Sensitive writing using a teen perspective on the mother’s grief and depression, the impact on family and Hannah’s growth in independence (captured in moments of comparison to life before Katie’s death).
2. A well-written perspective on nature of bullying – how it grows from the inconsequential, fed by lack of confidence.
3. Friendship is essential – we all need someone who takes the time to listen and stops for you.
